Devanshi Asher (b. 1996) is an Indian lens-based documentary practitioner and interdisciplinary storyteller currently based in London. Her practice—spanning photography, filmmaking, performance, and writing—is rooted in collaboration, care, and social impact. Through visual narratives that centre climate justice, gender, and cultural preservation, Asher explores how collective memory, resistance, and dialogue shape our understanding of belonging and change.

Devanshi holds a BA in Filmmaking from Srishti Institute of Art, Design, and Technology, Bangalore. In 2019, Devanshi was awarded a full scholarship at the Naropa Fellowship in Ladakh, India—an alternative academic programme funded by Hemis Monastery and Ashoka University, focused on creating socially conscious leaders and entrepreneurs in the Himalayan region. At Naropa, she specialised in sustainable entrepreneurship, systems thinking, and community-centred development. She recently completed her MA in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism with distinction at the University of the Arts London.

With over seven years of experience, Devanshi has created more than 25 short films, facilitated participatory workshops for children in rural India in partnership with grassroots NGOs, and worked as a creative consultant and project producer in the non-profit sector. Her diverse body of work spans from music videos and editorial photo essays to branded campaigns and social documentaries.

Much of her storytelling is deeply informed by her time in the Indian Himalayan region, where she collaborated with local communities to document the lived realities of climate change, particularly through the lens of women, ecology, and indigenous knowledge systems. Across all her work, Devanshi embraces participatory methods that invite reflection, nurture shared dialogue, and foster connection.​ At the core of her practice is a belief in the transformative power of coming together through stories, conversations, and acts of creative solidarity.
